Certified Imago Therapist
Advanced Clinician
Certified Daring Way™
Facilitator

I earned my master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Indiana State University’s AAMFT (American Association for Marriage and Family Therapists) accredited program in 1987. I was licensed as a mental health counselor in Florida in 1992 and in Indiana in 1998. In 1993 I was introduced to the Imago Therapy model, designed specifically for relationship issues. I was determined to implement this theory into my practice and in 1998 I received certification as an Imago Relationship Therapist. In February 2014, I attended training and am now a Certified Daring Way™ Facilitator – Candidate. This program is based on Brené Brown’s research, this program is rapidly expanding internationally, and is designed to assist people with living braver lives.

I have worked with incredibly diverse populations including those being served in various types of in-patient settings to community mental health programs. I have been in private practice since 1994 and I worked with Hospice for over 9 years. I know from an up close and personal perspective the importance of living your life fully and minimizing any regrets along the way! I have over 27 years of professional experience and more than enough years of life experience that I can share with you in an effort to build the life you are dreaming of!

It has been a privilege to be able to work with individuals, couples and families in both the heterosexual and the gay and lesbian community; helping them deepen and strengthen their relationships and their lives. Many of the tools I teach are deeply rooted in Imago Theory and they are enormously effective and practically ‘fail proof’! The concepts based on the Imago Relationship theory and The Daring Way™ program are essential understandings in our quest to live wholehearted, healthy, and braver lives.

I absolutely love and am humbled by the work I do. It’s not a job. It was truly a calling for me. Supporting the clients I work with as they learn new skills and gain unique insights that allow them to evolve emotionally; become more grounded, and authentically who they are and were always meant to be brings me tremendous joy! Come in and let me nurture and witness that same transformation with you!

CLIENTS SERVED

My practice serves both individuals as well as those coming in with relationship issues. As has been noted, I am a Certified Imago Relationship Therapist, and truly love working with relationship issues, and I feel very blessed to assist same sex relationships as well as heterosexual couples. I also do a considerable amount of work with family issues including parent-child and sibling dynamics. I incorporate EMDR interventions when there is a need to eliminate or greatly alleviate intense reactive patterns, which is often part of the dynamic going on when people seek counseling or coaching. I also use it to assist in healing when there has been either a specific trauma or life disturbing experiences that are interfering with someone’s ability to function optimally in the relationship or their everyday life. Please read more about this intervention as well as Imago therapy on the pages devoted to these approaches.

WHAT ABOUT INSURANCE?

There are a host of glitches in the managed care system. That being said, I am more than happy to provide you with service summaries with regard to your sessions. In the event you choose to pursue filing the claims and seek reimbursement from your insurance company, those summaries will contain all of the proper codes needed to process it. It is your responsibility to check with your insurance company to determine whether the services you are seeking are covered, what the limits are to that coverage, and whether they will accept my credentials. With all of the access other agencies and institutions have to insurance files, I am not an advocate of utilizing managed care systems for mental health purposes if it is not necessary. All managed care companies require a diagnosis, and unfortunately a psychiatric diagnosis, even something as benign as an adjustment disorder of some sort, can impede your ability to obtain life insurance or even medical insurance if you are self-employed. If it’s in your file, others have access to it.

PRACTICE HOURS

Afternoon, Evening and Saturday appointments are available.

CANCELLATION & NO-SHOWS

Please keep in mind that when you reserve time for your appointment, I am also reserving that time for you. Late cancellations and No Shows will be billed at the full rate for the time scheduled.
